We started off the month with a half-hearted attempt to potty train.
Actually, I think Duncan pulled out the bag of Charlie sized underwear and it seemed fun to Charlie that he could wear underwear like Duncan.
Loads of juice and probably way too much screen time later, we're still in diapers!
Oh well, maybe next time.
The traditional morning good-bye wave to Daddy.
Putting the boys to work...
thankfully nobody lost an eye
because aim was not really one of the goals during all this tossing.
A must see attraction when visiting the local hardware store.
Washers...another must see attraction.
It's a lot like making lemonade out of lemons...no toys or playground?
Let's make toys and a playground!
We inherited this BEAUTIFUL chandelier from Mootz when she passed away.
It's been in storage for a few years and we finally unpacked it,
only to discover that one of the arms on the chandelier was broken.
After making multiple calls around town
we were able to find someone who was able to fix it {yay}!
It took Bobby and I an evening to figure out how to hang this thing...which was no easy task.
New rain boots plus rain!
Playing at Cabela's...lots to look at there!
Brothers,
we are SO happy that these two have each other.
What's so interesting on the floor?
Legos? Daddy's phone?...
Nope, just the cool way to eat ice cream apparantly.
Probably watching soccer youtube videos or something. :)
We headed to Utah to attend a special birthday surprise party for Honey
and got there minutes before the surprise happened.
Man, Salt Lake traffic seems way worse than we remember.
5+ hours in the car, plus a freeway accident and rush hour traffic at the very end
makes for an antsy tired family.
Inside the package was our surprise for Joanne...
a labor of love put in a black frame...
Doing the Primary Newsletters has tought me a thing or two about Microsoft Publisher -
a program I didn't even know existed prior to my calling.
Playing at Grandpa and Grandma's house:
Grandpa's red car of course (the first stop), hanging out with baby Simon, finding a bird's nest,
and winning at Skee-Ball (these boys know the secrets to winning!)
Boondocks!
Poor Charlie was pretty upset when he realized he wasn't tall enough to ride along,
and then had to watch us all from behind the fence,
cruisin' around the track over and over again.
Duncan actually had a rough few minutes as well when he discovered that he wasn't tall enough
to drive the go-cart all by himself.
These boys LOVE cars.
Bumper Boats!
Good thing it was a warm day because there was a lot of squirting water fights going on.
Arcade Fun
Definitely a highlight moment here...
driving cars!
Uncle Jord invited us over to his parent's house for some mini dirt bike fun along with rides on the giant tree swing and zip line.
Charlie was napping otherwise he'd be all over these pictures with a big smile on his face.
Somehow we didn't end up with any pictures of the Rich happenings except for this one of Charlie on Honey's slide.
Duncan and Charlie got all their energy out on this at the end of the night.
Back in Boise:
We headed to the commons area for a spontaneous dinner picnic.
The boys rode their bikes, we rolled around on the grass, ate chicken salad sandwiches,
and enjoyed the change of pace.
Family picture...?
Bobby had his big 3-0 birthday!
He has been traveling to and from Twin Falls (a 4 hour round trip) a couple of times a week to cover the other office while they work on re-staffing. His birthday was one of those long travel days so we opted to keep things simple and just be together. We had ribs and corn on the cob for dinner, then cake and ice cream, and finally, Bob put Shaun the Sheep on (a favorite!) for the boys and they all relaxed on the bed together.
This handsome, wise, funny, and hard-working man is the best.
Let's be honest, I could go on and on about him but if you know Bob at all, then you probably already know how terrific of a person he is.
Quote from Duncan
4/10/15
Duncan will occasionally announce during the day that he remembered his dream
from the night before and proceed to share the details. Sometimes he remembers bad dreams
(like the one about the giant hornet that was in the middle of the floor in our kitchen)
and sometimes he remembers good dreams.
At the breakfast table one particular morning, Duncan told me that he remembered his dream
(a good one for sure).
Duncan, " Nephi was in my dream."
Me, "Did you talk to him?"
Duncan, "I told him, "I read about you in the scriptures,""
Then he told me it was dark in his dream but they could hear Jesus' voice.
He also noted later that Lehi was there too.
I love that he has dreams about scripture heros. :)
