Duncan's ways with words. - Posted by the Mrs

Duncan has been talking up a storm.  He loves to learn new words and can be heard at times just rambling off random words and phrases together with enthusiasm.

Here are some of the funny things he's said lately for the record:

A clock goes: "Tic-Clock Tic Clock"

"Cha-Kow" instead of Ka-Chow

We were thinking for a short time that Duncan had turned Swedish when these words were coming out:

Sweater was "Sway-ter"

Nose Wipe?..."Ose Mipe"

He used to enthusiastically shout "Amen" after the sacrament prayers.  It's true, you can ask anyone in Jim and Joanne's ward and they will agree.  Unfortunately we had to put an end to that but it was great hearing that excitement in his voice when it was his turn to chime in.

We have started a little tradition of taking a treat/otter pop out to the backyard after dinner while enjoying the perfect weather and sitting on our camping chairs.  During one of the earlier occasions of this family gathering, we were just sitting and eating then, out of the blue, Duncan held up his hand to me and said, "high five".
 I'm pretty sure he was conveying his support for our regular "sugar time" we had established.

One of Bobby's and my favorite movies to watch on Sundays is "Out of the Mouth of Babes".  It's that movie from the 70's where they are interviewing little kids and asking them questions about Jesus, the Church, etc.  If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

In each of the places we've lived, we have been blessed to make such great friendships that have continued on even after we move away...which happens often.

We spent a day with some good friends from our days living in the university student apartments.

We spent the evening having a tasty BBQ and playing games with our good friends.  The day wasn't long enough to do all the catching up and laughing that we wanted to do so we'll be planning another big gathering soon I hope!

It seems as though trying to pack or put away anything with a curious toddler around is like asking them to undo everything you are doing.  Here is a prime example of that curiosity.  We were trying to put our winter stuff away and Duncan caught a glimpse of some awesome glasses.

We went swimming at a local community pool.  Duncan had a good time on this alligator's mouth slide.

Marse and Livy joined us as well.  We had a good time splashing and exploring together.

Pat and Anna invited us over to the Waterford gym climbing wall one evening.

Duncan even tried his hand...and foot at the challenge.  

But, for the most part, Duncan just ran around the big gym with his pal Livy.

Great place to bring a few snacks, some ride on toys, and let 'em loose!

This was at a pit stop on our way to Sacramento, back when we were house hunting.

The hug was completely voluntary on Duncan's part.

This doesn't happen very often...all of us are in the picture and looking at the camera.

Kodak moment.

I noticed in the paper that the Tracy Aviary was promoting free admission during every Wednesday in March.  When I called to find out about parking etc. I mentioned the promotion and wanted to confirm the free admission.  This is how the conversation went:

Me: "I just wanted to confirm that admission is free on Wednesdays for the month of March."

Lady: "Yes, it's $3 a person"

Me: processing, processing.

"So it's not free?  There's a promotion in the paper stating it's free on Wednesdays"  

Lady: "Yes, it's $3 a person"

Apparently her "yes" had a whole bunch of meaning all wrapped up in it that I didn't understand.

Oh well, $3 a person was still a great deal and we had talked it up with Duncan so we headed off to see some birds.

Eagles

Go easy on me, this was a few months ago and I didn't happen to jot down the specific bird...but I did get a picture!

Regardless of how well I know my birds, this was a fun family outing.

Duncan loved it as much as we'd hoped and we had a fun picnic at the park afterwards.

This is somewhat random, but I loved this picture of Duncan snuggling with one of the dolls at Honey and Poppy's house.  He insisted that the doll be close to him while he watched part of a movie.

Movie time for Duncan was shower time for mommy...yay, we all win!

We had a picnic at the park one Saturday and were pleasantly surprised to find a ton of remote controlled flying aircrafts.  Duncan was in heaven.

Of course, we couldn't go to the park without playing at the playground.
