Dr. Seuss comes to town!! - posted by the Mrs.

We were finally able to celebrate the birth of two cute HEALTHY boys on Feb. 26th (which ironically was Duncan's original due date).

The boys were dressed in red outfits and had "Thing 1" and "Thing 2" signs pinned to their shirts.
We invited a few other families and had a great time chatting over tasty food, helping the boys open their presents, and giving them their first taste of a frosting-topped scrumptious cupcake!

These are Dr. Seuss fish hanging from our dining room light fixture.

Here's where the tasty cupcakes and other party foods were put. As Bobby and I were thinking about the fact that this was our 1st child's 1st birthday, we wanted to figure out what traditions we will start as far as birthdays go. I'm sure we'll add more as time goes on and our children are more aware of their birthday.
Until then, we decided to start out with a birthday table cloth that will come out for each of Duncan's birthday parties and have all the guests who are present sign the table cloth.

Bobby and I painted this magnet board to be Dr. Seuss themed. Then we put a few pictures of each boys first year of life.

This is Duncan's cowboy monkey that we gave him for his birthday. We eventually had to cut the cowboy hat off because Duncan loves to cuddle and hug his stuffed animals and it just wasn't working with this stiff hat.

Here's the face of a child who has been stripped down to his underwear, placed on a cold hard floor, in the center of a crowd and expected to eat something mysterious and blue. Neither of the boys were lovin' the idea at first. The frosting you do see on Duncan's face is from Bobby trying to get him into it. :)

This is the face of a boy who has tasted the goodness of frosting mixed with cake. Once this happened, Duncan was perfectly content to sit and munch.

These are the Sandbergs. Chelsea, Swen, and little Gavin. Duncan is only an hour younger than Gavin!! They were meant to be buds.
