September was full of goodness!
As Duncan says, "Let's start at the very beginning"
{a phrase he learned from listening to the Sound of Music soundtrack with me}.
Brooke and Tyler visited the great Australia {where Tyler served his mission} and brought home a suitcase of goodies to share with family and friends.
We had a blast tasting scrumptious foreign chocolate, playing with a legit boomerang, reading our homemade and hilarious cards, and enjoying the thoughtful gifts they sent along.
For the record, their chocolate is awesome.
This is my hobby/on going project...
I love to buy clothes at end of the season sales etc. and recently had the thought to organize them so that I could keep track of them and know what the boys still need, how many we have and so forth.
This is the next two years of clothes for both boys all set up so that I don't have to think too hard when I'm out shopping. I love getting organized.
This is what the boys did while I got their closet re-organized.
They were loving it.
We got Charlie a new crib and used the old crib sides to make a little fort.

{the Harry Potter books cost a whopping $2.50 for 5 of the 7 books! that's like 99% off retail prices and they are in great shape. Sweeeet.}
For my birthday, Bobby wrote me a lovely love note and gave me a Groupon for a 60 minute massage...can't wait! That evening we ate at Red Robin per tradition and then Cold Stone for dessert. Before we headed home we stopped by the mall for some shirt shopping.

It was so fun to pull out all the things I've been collecting for {hopefully} someday when we have a little girl to play dress ups!
It's interesting how an event like this can make a person see with new eyes things that have been there all along but had become "invisible" from everyday passing.
For example: our front porch.
We found a Brown Widow Spider chillin' above our front door one evening. Just imagine a spider's big round abdomen the size of a nickel and then add the fact that it has deadly venom running through it.
Now imagine that spider just inches away from access to your home.
Scarey!
After that experience and with the thought of hosting an open house for a mother-to-be and the whole ward, I promptly took a hose sprayer to the front of the house.
The Shower
We did a Temple Babysitting Swap with another family in our ward. This was our evening to have all 4 boys in our care. Unfortunately for us, this family is moving in November.
We have made a number of family friends, all of which have moved!

Bobby rented a carpet cleaner from the nearby grocery store one Saturday (during which we had the best rain, thunder, and lightening storm...sigh). Duncan said he had a good idea and ran out to the garage to fetch something.
He came back with these: silencing ear muffs.
I guess eating with the noise of a carpet cleaner was just too much for him.

We were paid a most lovely visit from Honey, Marse, Lance, Livvy, and Tyson this month!
These two were such great buddies, playing cats and dogs, riding bikes, wanting to sit by each other during meals, and playing so well together.
Tyson got a workout pushing Charlie around the back patio.
I loved that they were both only wearing long sleeved onesies and socks.
This look only flies when you are under the age of 2.
Morning time on the air mattress.
While Bobby was at work on Friday, we set out to experience FUNDERLAND.
It's like Disneyland only not insanely crowded...and on a smaller scale.
It was perfect for our little kiddies to enjoy.
The Merry-Go-Round was set to spin at like 20 mph.
OK, maybe not that fast but we all agreed it was the fastest one we'd ever been on.
Charlie was all for it.
We headed to the Monterrey Bay area where we hit up the Aquarium and Dennis the Menace Park.
The kids, again, enjoyed it all!

It's basically like 6 awesome and unique playgrounds in 1.
We stopped at Rio del Mar Beach to have a nice Sunday afternoon picnic.
It was great to soak up the sunshine and enjoy the ocean with family.
When you visit the California Riches on your very birthday, you get extra presents.
Judging by the smile on Marianne's face, I'd say she liked hers.
We celebrated Charlie, Marianne's and and my birthday while the crew was here.
{we had been at the beach earlier in the day PLUS we had been in the car traveling the rest of the day which EQUALS not showering. Just gettin' real.}
Charlie sure loves his new little ride {Duncan loves it as well of course!}

To finish off the September post here is a quote from our dearest little Duncan.
To set the stage, this was during Labor Day weekend.
Charlie had been up all night and day with his first BAD cold.
There was constant whining and crying.
During the second night, we FINALLY got him to sleep for the first time and decided that we'd move Duncan to our bed even though he was zonked out. We didn't want to take any chances with having Charlie's sleep, in any way, disturbed.
We were finally ready to close our eyes and get some much needed sleep.
I whispered to Bobby that I was so glad that he didn't have work the next day.
In a half-asleep state, Duncan changed positions and stated clearly and matter-of-factly,
"He do's, he actually do's".
