Well, we said Sayonara (Good-Bye) to California.
It was a CrAzY last few days in California as Duncan starting throwing up just as we were packing everything and cleaning up. Yes, I remember now, it was right after we got the carpets cleaned that it all started happening ironically. :)
Thankfully, my dad planned to come and help us drive the eight hours to Boise with us. It's a REALLY good thing he did. 20 minutes into the drive Duncan had thrown up twice and we stopped for a bathroom break on the side of the canyon road. Poor little guy had mosquito bites in places that don't normally get sun because of that pit stop. He threw up 6 or 7 more times during that drive but he was a TROOPER! It was amazing that with both cars packed to the brim that we were able to find everything we needed when the bodily fluids started to fly!
(Sorry if that's TMI)
During that drive, as we were following Bobby in his car, the sun had gone down and we were just trying to get "home". As Bobby went to pass a semi truck on the two lane highway, he had to jerk the car back into the lane-BARELY missing and colliding with a huge mattress in the middle of the lanes. It was a potential serious wreck. It was scary to have a front row seat to the whole thing but we are so glad that we were watched over and blessed to get through that drive safely.
- 3 A.M. -
We arrive at our temporary housing apartment destination.
Only about 5 hours off schedule but we arrived.
This is the apartment playground we frequented often while living in our temporary quarters.
Since we didn't have a lot to do inside the apartment, we loved having this place to get their energy out.
Yay for slides!
We got a lot of things done while my dad was there, including some fun as well but it was nice to have an in-house babysitter while we got driver's licenses, car registration, and even house hunting in!
Thanks again Dad.
These swings created a ritual reminder for these boys for some reason and they always sang Charlie's version of Zippity Do Da.
In case you missed it, this is how it goes:
Zippity Do Da, Zippity Aye,
Ma-mo, Ma-mo, Da-Da Day!
They sang that song over and over again.
We took a drive up by the hilly mountains one afternoon and enjoyed a good view of our high desert that we now reside in.
We took the boys to the circus!
I guess I'm getting old because it was super loud (not to mention the announcer emphasized every other syllable making everything sound odd) and the woman in the show were not dressed like they were putting on a show for families and small children.
Having some cuddle time with dad.
We sure treasured our library during this 6 week stay in our temporary place!
Duncan and I visited a neighborhood yard sale going on across the street from our apartment and found this Ravensburger kid's puzzle for $1 ~ score!
He got really good at doing this puzzle all by himself.
This is also about the time we discovered Duncan has a real knack for doing mazes.

Another treasured activity while living in the apartment with our bare essentials...
THE SWIMMING POOL!
I got some tips from our friend in CA who taught young children how to swim.
We worked on Monkey Crawling around the pool, doing the Super Man for neck strength and getting used to being vertical, and back floating.
Charlie was even able to join in and do the exercises.

Yay, Charlie!
We visited Ann Morrison park and found a great little Rose Garden there.
Can you see the rainbow?!
We hopped on the Green Belt trail at the park and walked for a bit.
Cute boys.
Sleepy boys.
We went and fed the ducks one evening and Charlie decided he was more hungry than than the ducks.
***Flashback**
Reminds me of Duncan at almost the exact same age (pictured below).
A little for the ducks, a lot for me, a little for the ducks...
Back to the present:
Duncan feeding all the bread to his feathered friends.
Teaching Charlie how to share. :)
Heading back to the apartment.
Love his read pajama pants.
Love his read pajama pants.
A Duncan quote that's actually from August but I'll forget by the time I get to that post.
First off,. let me say we've noticed that Idaho seems to have an over abundance of flies.
Seriously.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We had just sat down to the table, Duncan, Charlie, and I, when Duncan declared, without any emotion whatsoever:
"All these flies in the house and I'm supposed to be a hero...
a fly killer."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Love it.

I have decided that duncan has travel anxiety. That is why he gets sick every time you guys have to go on long trips or when you come out to utah!
